CAUTION Performance Art Workshop led by Sinéad O’Donnell
My project work in Singapore combined a series of performance art workshops with local artists hosted by the Substation Art Centre. We worked through ideas and actions incorporating experiences that I have had while working on CAUTION. The performance art workshop developed out of my experience of my own artistic journey and making work with Mariel, Paul, Sylvette, Poshya and Shiro. The discourse and format of the workshops were devised to amplify the issues that have come up within these artist-to-artist exchanges.
It is anticipated that workshop participants will continue to engage with CAUTION and the six participating artists after the workshops and that they will have some input into events and discussions around the exhibition at Golden Thread Gallery through an internet interface.
The workshops will play an integral part in how the show manifests itself for the duration of six weeks, claiming as much artistic territory as possible for performance artists to engage globally. I hope to form lunchtime skyped performances into the Golden Thread Gallery from the student artists taking part in the workshop. I feel this will achieve awareness and exposure to both artistic communities.
